All of the generator's outlets are circuit-breaker protected to safeguard your electronics. View larger. | Engine is Easy-to-Operate, Durable, and Efficient The TG72K12 features a powerful, 14-horsepower, 420-cc, four-stroke, gas-powered OHV engine that is capable of producing 7,250 continuous watts and 8,250 maximum watts. Its easy-pull recoil and electric-start make for reliable startups every time. The engine isn't just powerful, it's also quiet. Thanks to its oversized muffler, the TG72K12 portable generator produces sound at just 70 decibels during operation. And with a 6.42-gallon fuel tank and efficient power delivery, the engine is capable of running a 50-percent load for up to 10-1/2 hours or a 100-percent load for 6 hours and 36 minutes. The engine also features auto throttle control technology, which automatically speeds up the engine when power is needed. This helps increase the longevity of the engine and also increases fuel efficiency. Alternator Technology Safely Delivers Electricity to Your Appliances One of the most innovative features of the TG72K12 is its ETQ Clean Sine Alternator Technology that ensures low total harmonic distortion (THD). THD is a measure of the quality of the electricity produced by a generator, and THD above six percent can damage electronics and other components over time. With THD of less than five percent, the TG72K12 ensures high-quality, safe delivery of electricity from the generator to your electrical components. With low THD, this generator is computer-friendly, meaning it's completely safe to use with laptops, printers, desktop computers, and more. The TG72K12 will give you peace of mind knowing that your computer hardware is completely safe from power surges and bad-quality electricity. Up to 8,250 Watts Power Most of Your Household Items The TG72K12 produces up to 8,250 watts of power to run most of your electrically powered household items. You can use the 120-volt, 20-amp GFCI-protected outlets to simultaneously power lamps, TVs, computers, fans, or other low-wattage appliances. Or you can power 240-volt appliances, such as your water heater, using the convenient 240-volt twist-lock outlet. Additionally, there's an included 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for added versatility. Heavy-Duty Steel Construction That's Built for Portability Everything--from the engine's heavy-duty cast-iron sleeves to the durable one-inch rolled steel tubing surround--is built to last. And with semi-pneumatic foam wheels and a fold-down handle, the generator is easy to move and store. The generator weights 207 pounds and measures just 32.87 x 22.24 x 23.82 inches (LxWxH). Outlets Feature Circuit-Breaker Protection The generator offers several ways to connect your appliances or electrical equipment. There are two 120-volt outlets available for most of your everyday, low-wattage appliances, such as fans, TVs, computers, microwaves, and toasters. There's also a convenient, 240-volt twist-lock outlet for running single, higher-wattage appliances and electrical equipment, such as water heaters or central air conditioners. Finally, there's a 120-volt, 30-amp RV connection for even more usage options. All of the outlets on the TG72K12 Portable Generator are circuit-breaker protected to eliminate the risk of power-surge damage, which can potentially ruin your appliances and electrical equipment. The ETQ TG72K12 Portable Generator is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty. The following battery types are compatible with this generator: Champion 94b1, JBS 12N9-4B-1, Motocross M2290B, Napa 740-1869, and Powersonic CB9-B. What's in the Box ETQ TG72K12 Portable Generator, wheel kit, handle, and 30-amp RV connection.

What went wrong? March 2, 2010 S. Fernandez The generator after hooking it up will not power my forced air furnace the furnace's self diagnostic led blinks indicating a problem, further tests show the generator puts out 65 HZ not the 60HZ is states in the manual. I surely would not power up any computers or other sensitive devices to this generator and I am glad I did not. So be aware of this before you use this to power any thing that needs precise 60 HZ power or you may have a paper weight. I purchased a meter called a Kill A Watt EZ from home depot for 25 dollars it reads out Watts, Volts. Cost to run device and most important the frequency of the output which mine was 65HZ to high to run most electronics can ruin them and some motors won't take that either the voltage isn't as important most things will run from 108 to 130 volts depending on device. End note check the FREQ!!! if it is more then 63 HZ then get it fixed. They are sending a new AVR Automatic Voltage Regulator out for me to install and they claim will fix the freq problem. I did not want to drive that far to the repair place lugging that 275 pound load with me and the meter for checking the 60HZ freq they will not reimburse me for but a good item to have with any generator. More to come when i get the AVR and put it in and retest.
Highly recommended February 26, 2010 Joel G. Dietrich (McLean, VA USA) We just finished installing and testing our new ETQ TG72K12 generator. This is the first Chinese-built product that has overall quality, fit, features and finish that rivals any US made product that we've ever seen. Absolutely first rate. And, it starts easily, runs well and most importantly, delivers stable power as advertised. We installed the battery (not the easiest to find), added the recommended grounding (OK, you pound an 8 foot ground rod into the earth), wired up a battery float charger and we're ready for the next power outage. The negatives; the users manual needs to have the translation translated. For the uninitiated, the bottle wires are really battery cables among other mistakes. Bottom line, we don't think anyone can go wrong with this generator especially given no shipping charges and no taxes here in Northern Virginia. With our luck, the power will never go out again...
Amazing bargain January 29, 2010 Richard Jones (Los Gatos, Ca USA) It's confusing to see some people mention 13HP and others 14HP engines. Mine happens to be the 14HP flavor. Mine came with damage from the shipping company but nothing too serious. A broken motor mount was the worst. But, the company said they will gladly send out replacement parts right away. This thing seems well built. I put the wheels on, filled with oil and gas, installed a battery from my mower temporarily, and used the electric start. It starts very easily/quickly and is quiet. I transferred power to my house and was able to run 3 refrigerators, many lights, 3 computers, a couple burners on the electric stove, without the generator sounding like it was working very hard. Then, I transferred power to just my water heater which is a 5500 watt unit. This made the generator sound like it was working harder but it had no problem. I then turned on a couple of stove burners (a total of 7000 watts) and now the generator sounded like it was really straining but it kept going. With a ~50% load, the frequency was at 63.5 hertz. There is a simple adjustment on the generator and I set it to 61 hertz. My computer UPS's don't like anything over 62 hertz. So far this generator is proving to be just what I was hoping for. Highly recommended.
02-16-2010 update: I have exercised the generator and transferred power a couple of times. I noticed oil sprayed onto the muffler. Looking at the valve cover, I noticed it was damaged also. It's bent at the edges and doesn't compress the gasket at all. Contacted the company again and they sent out new parts no questions asked. Installed the new parts, no more oil spray. The price has been reduced drastically since I purchased it. Amazon says they cannot ship to California but they do anyway. Don't pass this deal up.
Great Generator / Excellent Features January 7, 2010 V. Tyszka (Detroit, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very easy to set up. Full roll-cage lets you flip it in any direction, even upside-down if you wanted. Makes installing the wheels and front supports a snap. I chose fully synthetic Mobil 1 5W-30 oil for easier starting in colder climates. Rotated the cord-pull counter-clockwise one screw hole to be more ergonomic like others have suggested. (They've got it aimed to the back of the control panel.. which is really dumb).
When you start it, make sure to turn 'OFF' the auto-idle switch. Then switch back on when it warms up. That is a really great feature on this machine. You may have to adjust the low speed idle with a simple screw turn. Mine was set a bit too low and the engine wasn't running very smooth where the factory set it.
If you have an ohm meter (which you can buy for as little as $5) you can check the electrical outputs. Mine were 122-123v at high idle, and 104-105v at low idle. I set the low idle up a tad, to match the high idle voltage.
Somewhere I've read of people turning off the fuel supply and running the engine until dry to keep the carb from gumming etc., but I wouldn't advise that. It stresses the engine badly as you starve it of fuel. Just buy some 'STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer' and add it to your gas. It eliminates the need to drain fuel during storage, and keeps fuel fresh for up to 12 months or more.
Overall I am highly satisfied with this generator. Very sturdy construction, idles down when the electricity draw is low, clean electrical power for sensitive electronics, fuel efficient, and I didn't find it overly loud for a generator.

Great Generator December 19, 2009 ChrisA (Poughkeepsie, NY) Bought this generator back in July with a Gentran 301060 manual transfer switch and finally tested it in October. Started right up on one pull, ran smoothly and suprisingly less noisy than others I've heard. Two days ago the power went out at 4AM and the outdoor temperature was 6 degrees. I rolled the TG7 out in the driveway grounded it and it started on one pull. After letting it run 15 minutes to stabilize flipped the on switch and turned on the furnace circuit in the Gentran box. After the furnace kicked on I turned on the water pump circuit then the circuit for the kitchen outlets plugged in a coffee maker and the TG7 ran flawlessly until the power went back on four hours later. This machine is worth every penny. For about 2000 more I could have an automatic system with an LP Generator that has the same wattage ratings as the TG7 and an all weather housing. However the budget didn't allow for the extra expense so for now the TG7 was the best buy. I'll have to build a housing though because this generator or any other has to be protected for use in rain or snow. I've looked at some on the Net but they cost almost 1000 dollars. Anybody ever built a shelter for a generator?
Update Feb. 25th 2010
Two major storms have hit the Hudson Valley this week dumping very wet heavy snow over a foot high. The first one knocked out power at 3:30A and after waiting two hours for the lights to come back on I rolled the TG7 out. It hadn't been started since the previous December. Temp was in the low thirties and snowing. I placed a piece of plywood covered with Reflectrix on the bottom and plastic topside on top of the TG7 to keep it dry. The generator started on two pulls and kept running with no problems for 10 hours until power was restored (the plywood worked). The second storm is happening as I type this post and has dumped another foot of wet snow. The power may go out again before this is over but the TG7 can handle it!
